Open your Technology's Impact on Society book to page 12 and read to page 21.  Then on page 21 use the box on the left to explain what the poem “The Secret of Machines” is about, what the poet's view of industrialization is, and how you know this.  Then choose a stanza from the poem that caught your attention or stood out to you.  You can write a sentence explaining which number stanza you chose. You do not have to copy the entire stanza. Write a complete sentence about which stanza you chose and weather you liked or dislike it and why.  YOU MUST WRITE ALL OF YOUR ANSWERS IN COMPLETE SENTENCES.  Use the box on the right to answer the same questions about the poem Skyscrapers.

Open your Technology's Impact on Society book to page 22 and read to page 31. In the Build Reflect Write part of the page write the major events of the industrial revolution in the sequence of events chart using complete sentences. (Make sure you capitalize your first word, and use punctuation.) Write one sentence to explain how this event set off the next event. 

On page 33 write a defintion for each word in complete sentences. Make sure you spell the word correctly. Next, write a complex sentence using the vocabulary word. Spell the word correctly. The sentence must indicate what the word means and make sense. A complex sentence is a sentence with one independent clause and at least one dependent clause. It works best you will need to provide more information to explain or modify your sentence's main point.


Examples of simple sentences:


That is beneficial.
I did consumption.
It is important to not be depleting.
I dominate gaming.
Did she diversify?



Examples of complex sentences:



While I am a passionate about conserving resources, I also spend time growing my own crops.


Although she was considered smart, she failed all her exams.


Whenever it rains, I like to collect the runoff in a reservoir.


Don't leave to car running even if you are going to be quick, because you will waste gas.


Even after all these years, when I saw the farm I was just as excited as the first day.
